The Orangeville Outlaws Football Club hosted a full day of home turf action on the gridiron at Orangeville District Secondary School on Sunday, June 1.
Atom division:
The Atoms played the first game of the day hosting the TNT Express with a 9:30 a.m. kick-off.
The first half saw the Orangeville Atoms play a strong offensive game with touchdowns from Izayea Thompson and two from Benjamin Catrell.
Moving into the second half the Outlaws ran into trouble with a strong TNT offence that managed to break through the lines to score, but turning it around, Catrell notched his third TD of the game in the third quarter.
With a push to get down field, the Orangville offence stuck to the running game making yards including a solid first down effort from Mateo Lucero.
The Outlaws played a good defensive game late in the half to keep the Express from gaining ground, but the O-ville team had to settle for a 40-19 loss at the end of the game.
The Atoms will be on the road for their next game against Ajax Pickering Dolphins on Saturday, June 6.
They return to their home field the following week when they will host the Toronto Green Jets on Sunday, June 15.
The kick-off is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.
Bantam division:
The Outlaws Bantam division team is undefeated after three games with their Sunday outing ending in a 48-27 win over the Niagara Generals.
After a 11:00 a.m. kick-off the Outlaws scored early in the first quarter on a TD from Ben Brakel and a successful convert by Jeriah Valladares.
Valladares followed up with a run down the sideline for the second O-ville touchdown.
Defensively the Banatams shut down Niagara with some solid hits by Elgin Cooke, Jacob McGarrity, and Luke Russell.
After allowing a Niagara goal in the first half, the Outlaws responded with a long 55 yard sprint by Mason Corrie that gave the Orangeville team a 19-6 lead.
Outlaws defensive player Sean Prevett snagged an interception for the turn around midway through the second quarter.
Valladares got his second goal of the game late in the quarter.
Going into the second half, the O-ville Bantams were leading 27-13.
Corrie got his second TD of the game in the third quarter.
That was followed up by a huge 40 yard sprint by Luc St. Germain to end the scoring for the Outlaws and give the Bantams their third consecutive win for the season.
The Outlaws Bantams will play one game on the road against the Cambridge Lions on Saturday, June 14.
They return to Orangeville on Sunday, June 22, to host the Toronto Green Jets.
That game will take place at Westside Secondary School with a 3:00 p.m. start.
Junior Varsity
The Outlaws JV team won their second of the season with a 26-6 win over the Cambridge Lions.
The game got underway at 1:00 p.m.
After two games the JV’s are now undefeated for the season.
They will be back on home turf at Orangeville District Secondary School this Sunday, (June 8) to host the Clarington Knights.
The kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
Varsity:
The Outlaws Varsity squad took a hit in their home game against the Niagara Spears taking a 20-6 loss to the visitors on the field at ODSS.
The O-ville Varsity team will get next weekend off before returning to their home field to host the TNT Express on Sunday, June 15.
The kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 pm.
