One arrest made in Caledon-area high school incidents

Police_Line_Crime_Scene_2498847226Caledon OPP have announced that an arrest has been made in relation to the two secondary school incidents yesterday. An investigation was launched yesterday following the closure of two area secondary schools.

Initially deemed separate incidents at the time of the occurrences, OPP determined through their investigation that they were related. This afternoon, they reported that an arrest was made late last night by officers from the Major Crime Unit.

Police have now confirmed that a robbery occurred in the vicinity of Humberview Secondary School, and are still in the middle of conducting an investigation. They have also confirmed that one of the victims suffered a minor injury, but did not require hospitalization.

The individual arrested is identified as a 17-year old Brampton male, though his name is being withheld due to provisions under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. He has been charged with 2 counts of Robbery and 2 counts of Use of An Imitation Firearm in the Commission of an Offence. He is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville Later today.

Crime Stoppers is completely anonymous; any persons submitting information will not be required to testify in court, and could receive a cash reward of up to $2000.
