With two games left on the schedule the ODSS Bears are currently in second place in the Division 4 / 10 standings – one point behind Centre Wellington.

But the squad from CWDHS has played 11 games – one more than ODSS and they have one tie on their record so the Bears can take over the top spot with their next game.

The Bears are undefeated for the season after ten games.

This places them in a good situation going into the playoffs.

They travelled to Shelburne on Tuesday, January 13, to take on the Royals from Centre Dufferin District High School and left with a 10-4 win.

At the end of the first period the Bears were leading 4-0.

They returned for the second frame and gave up two goals to CDDHS before getting back to business and notching three more to end the period.

“It wasn’t much of a challenge. We got a little scared for a little bit in the second period but we held out ground and got the win,” Is how Bears forward Kyle Waters summed up the game.

Waters got three points for the game scoring a hattrick.

The Bears will meet up with Bishop MacDonell for their next game but it will be the final game against Centre Wellington on February third that will be the battle of the titans when the two top Division 10 teams meet up to see who will come out in the number one spot in the division.

“We’ve got a couple of practices before then and we’ve got to get ready,” Said Bears forward Travis Brown. “We got one more game before that so we’ll try to use that game as preparation and see what we can do in our practices to get better.”

After CWDHS and ODSS, Centennial Collegiate Vocational Institute is in third place with 18 points and a 9-3 record.

They are followed by Norwell District Secondary School with and St. James, both with 16 points for the season.

The Bears are scheduled to meet Bishop MacDonell on Monday, February 2, at Tony Rose arena in Orangeville with a 2:00 p.m. start.

The final regular season game against Centre Wellington will get underway at CWDHS home ice in Fergus on Tuesday, February 3.

That game is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. start.
