The Orangeville District Secondary School Bears boys hockey team capped off a stellar season with a trip to the Central Western Ontario Secondary Schools Association finals in Guelph on March 2-3.
The team earned the right to go to CWOSSA after winning the District 4 / 10 championship on February 20.
The team cruised through the regular season finishing in first place with an undefeated record.
The CWOSSA championship featured eight top teams from around the region that battled it out over two days at the Westend Recreation Centre in Guelph.
On day one of the event, the Bears won their opening game 3-1, then followed up with a 7-1 slam over Holy Trinity.
On day two, the field was narrowed to four teams playing off for the final.
ODSS won 1-0 over Grand River in the elimination in a long game that went into double overtime then a shoot-out to determine the winner.
Centre Wellington District High School won their game over Preston to advance to the final and face ODSS for the championship.
The final game saw ODSS shut-out and CWDHS took the championship and will advance to OFSAA to compete at the provincial level.
