Northmen U15 boys move up to A division

After a stellar 2013 season that saw the Northmen U15 boys field lacrosse team win at the Provincial level in the B division, the squad has moved up to compete in the A division this season.

The season will get underway for the U15 team with two games on Saturday, April 12, at the Creditview turf fields in Brampton.

Game one is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. against the Toronto Beaches.

They will hit the turf again for a second game at 9:00 p.m. against Mimico.

Coached by Dave Summerville and assistants Jamie Kirk and defensive coach Rob Koekkoek, the team got an early start to the season thanks to some local sponsors who stepped up to help the squad get out on the fields for some pre-season practice.

Due to town restrictions on field use prior to the end of May, the team must go out of town to get in early practice. That means they must rent the fields to get in their pre-season training.

Inox Industries, All Kleen Windows, and Northline Cabling are sponsoring the team.

The sponsorship made it possible for the team to travel to Brampton for a two hour practice on the Creditviews turf.

They followed that up with an exhibition game against one of their oldest rivals – the Brampton Excelsiors.
