The North Dufferin Baseball League has announced its intent to have a season this year.

Executive members met on Sunday, June 13, to discuss the upcoming 2021 season.

“It was the intent of all teams during the virtual meeting to field a team this year, depending on regulations and next steps as determined by the Ontario government, baseball authorities and plans from the league,” the executive said in a statement released June 13.

The executive discussed possible time frames, and schedule options that may be available for the summer.

The League has 12 senior division teams that will be returning this year.

In the Junior division, four new teams were added to the line-up to make a six-team loop.

The Caledon Nationals, Georgina Bulldogs, Orangeville Bengals, and the Midland Twins, will join the Creemore Braves and the Mansfield Cubs in the Junior division.

The League executive said there is a feeling of ‘cautious optimism’ about putting new plans in place to get the league going this summer, although they have said they are waiting for more information to be released by the province.

They plan to meet again later this month to review and finalize plans for a season.

As the province has moved into step 1 of the re-opening plan, teams will be allowed start outdoor training.
