Nominations open for DWIB 2017 Sparkle Awards

To sparkle is to shine, and those who shine stand out. With this in mind, Dufferin Women in Business (DWIB) are welcoming nominations for their 2017 Sparkle Awards.

The Sparkle Awards were created six years ago so those in the community could recognize women and all of the work they put into their businesses, making Orangeville a better place.

To help women network their businesses, the DWIB connects with high-achieving women and encourages them to make their businesses the best they can be.

For 15 years their goal has been to “Build, Connect & Grow.” This has proved very useful, and has given many women the opportunity to connect with people they may not have met otherwise.

With a goal of helping women grow in their professional lives and also balance home life, DWIB Chair Liz Skorski emphasizes that “as women, we work hard to juggle home and work life, child and parental responsibilities, hobbies and education. Isn’t it nice to be recognized?”

These awards give every woman in the community a chance to get nominated or win an award. There is the 2017 Woman of Influence award, Volunteer of the Year, Mentor of the Year, and Networker of the Year.

The 2017 Woman of Influence award is presented to one who has promoted local businesses with her impact of the community and skill in the field.

The Volunteer of the Year award is given to a woman who is very involved with volunteer work – for example, with charities, non-profit organizations, and events for the betterment of others and the community.

The Mentor of the Year award goes to a woman who has helped the entrepreneurs, new businesses and growing businesses in the community by using her talents to increase their chances of success.

The Networker of the Year award goes to a woman who is very involved in local networking groups and events. She understands that having positive relationships with others leads you to your accomplishments with your business.

If you are looking for nominees, short bios and a photo will be posted on the DWIB website to explain why they have been nominated. You can vote for who you think should win at the Sparkle Awards Gala at the Orangeville Best Western on Wednesday, November 15.
