The Orangeville Police Service has arrested and charged a 19-year-old male with several criminal charges including mischief to OPS jail cells.
On Wednesday August 10, 2016, at approximately 11:00 p.m., a male attended the Orangeville Police Service to inquire about a friend who had been arrested earlier in the evening. While speaking with police, it was discovered that the male was wanted by Peel Regional Police for offences in their jurisdiction. The male was arrested and taken into custody regarding the warrant.
The accused man was lodged in a jail cell and became agitated. The male was able to reach up to the fire suppression system and damage a sprinkler head. The man’s actions caused the sprinkler system to be activated resulting in the cell area and joining hallways to become flooded with water.
On August 11, 2016, at approximately 12:10 a.m., a 26-year-old Caledon man attended the Orangeville Police Service to report that he had been threatened by the accused several hours earlier.
As a result of the night’s events, police arrested and charged the19-year-old Orangeville man with two counts of Uttering Threats to Cause Death and one count of Mischief Over $5000.
Jaymz Michael Tilcox, 19, of Orangeville, was held in custody pending a bail hearing regarding the allegations.
