Lord Dufferin Centre retirement residence at 32 First Street, will be hosting an open house this Sunday (Sept. 23) to show those interested what services they provide, and to meet their dedicated staff.
This annual open house was introduced by the Ontario Retirement Communities Association (ORCA), of which Lord Dufferin is a member. It will run from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., with tours, refreshments, and free parking available.
Trish McDonald, service worker with the locally owned centre, explained to the Citizen that this is a province-wide retirement community event. “Not only Lord Dufferin’s doors will be open, but everybody’s across Ontario who are ORCA members.”
According to their website, ORCA, founded in 1977, represents over 92 per cent of retirement home suites in Ontario. providing accommodations and services to more than 56,000 seniors, and includes over 240 commercial partners “who provide products and valuable services to retirement communities throughout the province.” Across the province, over 600 retirement homes are ORCA members, with member sizes ranging from 10 to 300 residents.
Ms. McDonald said this open house is an opportunity for Orangeville and the surrounding area to learn of the various services offered at the centre. “It encourages people to come in to find out what we’re all about.” During the day, management and team members will guide those through the layout of the centre.
Family owned and operated since 1998, Lord Dufferin Centre offers 76 uniquely designed private suites. Accommodations include a dining room, common areas, activity hall, library, café, theatre room, games area, 24-hour supervision, and weekly housekeeping services are just some of the things the centre has to offer.
“It’s a great opportunity to meet the public,” added Ms. McDonald.
The centre also offers a variety of planned activities and exercise programs, entertainment and social events tailored to meet individual’s needs.
