During the first quarter of 2016 Crime Stoppers of Simcoe-Dufferin-Muskoka (CSSDM) received 428 new tips and more than 577 follow-ups to existing tips.

In its quarterly report, CSSDM said these calls assisted police in clearing 91 cases, resulting in 43 arrests and the laying of 122 charges for a variety of offences including Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Highway Traffic Act.

Crime Stoppers tips helped the police to recover $206,000 in illegal drugs and property during the 1st quarter of 2016.

So far in 2016 the CSSDM Board approved $6470 in reward payments for successful tips.  Since inception in 1987 that amount has grown to over $330,000 in rewards to Tipsters who have helped solve crimes in Simcoe-Dufferin-Muskoka.

This year’s Crime Stoppers annual golf tournaments are May 29 at Simoro Golf Club and August 12 at Marlwood Golf Club. These golf tournaments are CSSDM’s most important fund raising events. If you or your company are interested in a sponsorship opportunity supporting the Crime Stoppers Program or entering a foursome call our Administration office at 705-726-2237.

Ongoing at this moment are ticket sales for a Pedego City Commuter electric bicycle to be drawn at the annual Boston Pizza event in Wasaga Beach on June 6.

Crime Stoppers is always looking for new volunteers to be a part of its team, either on its Board of Directors or a locally focused community committee.
