Get ready for some holiday cheer…

The Kin Club of Orangeville is bringing back the Santa Claus parade: an event that, due to the pandemic, was unable to run in 2020.

Scheduled to run from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the parade will follow its usual route: beginning on Hansen Blvd., working its way up First Street, going down Broadway, and finishing at Rotary Park.

Unlike past years, businesses, non-profits, and other community members wishing to participate will be able to do so with no registration fees.

The Kin Club, partnered with the Town of Orangeville, has decided that removing said fees is beneficial as impacts from the pandemic have resulted in funding issues for many organizations.

The goal of this event is to “Bring smiles back” says Angela Lockhurst, who is co-chair of the initiative.

This year, the parade marshal, along with the judges have been selected based on their devotion to the community, along with their ambition to give back; especially during the pandemic.

Parade Marshal will be Jennifer Betz, the owner of Deja Vu Diner, and the three judges being 10 and 10 Garden Centre, Curry Mantra, and Nifty Nook.

The judges will select winners for the following categories:

Best Commercial Entry, Best Community Entree, Best School/Youth Group Entry, Best Walking Group, and Best Overall Entry.

Angela encourages people to “come on out and participate” because, after almost two years of lockdowns; “it’s fun to be social again”.

The goal is to get 40+ floats, along with both elementary and secondary school mascots to join in the fun.
