The Orangeville Junior C Northmen wrapped up the regular season with three road games that saw them clinch second place in the standings.

The week started with a Thursday (June 22) night game against the Thistles in Fergus.

After a tight couple of periods that saw the teams head into the third period tied 6-6, the Northmen had a five-goal run for a 12-7 win.

Josh Presley led the offence with two goals and six assists. Zack Dorval added three goals and two assists. Goalie Aiden Clark recorded the win with 26 saves.

On Saturday, June 24, the Northmen travelled to Brantford to take on the Warriors. It was a run-away game for the Orangeville team, with 11 different players registering goals for the night and 14 out of 18 runners getting the point.

The final score was 18-3 for Orangeville.

Keaton Walsh and Jack Fitzpatrick both had hat-tricks.

The final regular season game pitted the Northmen again the Six Nations Stealth on Sunday, June 25.

Both teams had identical 10-7 records going into Sunday’s game. The winner would take second place and drop the other team to the number four spot.

At the end of the first period, the Northmen were leading 4-1. At the end of the second, they were up 9-4.

The Northmen played a conservative third period to avoid getting into rough play while having a good lead and clinched the game 11-8.

With the second-place finish, the Northmen will now be up against the last-place Brantford Warriors in a best-of-five series to start the playoffs.

Game one of the series will begin on Thursday, June 28, at Tony Rose Arena in Orangeville.

Game time is 8:00 p.m.
