The Provincial Junior Hockey League has wrapped up the regular season and teams across the province are going into playoff mode to determine division champions.

The teams that made the playoffs will play for the conference titles with winners moving on to the provincial Schmalz Cup championship.

Overall, the Lakeshore Canadiens of the West Stobbs Division and the Hanover Barons of the North Pollock Division tied for first place in the province with both teams finishing with 74 points.

The Alliston Hornets of the North Carruthers Division finished close behind with 72 points.

After failing to win a single game this season, the Campbellford Rebels of the East Tod Division have the dubious distinction of being the worst team in the league.

In the North Carruthers Division, the first round of playoff games is scheduled to get underway on March 1.

The Alliston Hornets finished the season in first place with 72 points. In second place, the Stayner Siskins finished with 66 points.

The Orillia Terriers ended the regular season in third place with 61 points followed by the Schomberg Cougars with 57 points.

Going into the quarter-final round of playoffs, Alliston will be up against the eighth-place Innisfil Spartans.

Innisfil barely made the playoffs after ending the regular season with just seven wins. They beat out the Midland Flyers who only managed to come out on top three times this season.

The Stayner Siskins will meet the Caledon Golden Hawks in their quarter-final match-up. Caledon ended the season with a 13-26-3 record including one overtime loss.

The Orillia Terriers will meet the Huntsville Otters in their quarter-final round.

The fourth-place Schomberg Cougars will be up against the Penetang Kings in a series that could go either way.

Once the quarter-final round is complete, the four remaining teams will meet for the semi-final round, with the two top teams meeting for the Division championship.

This will be an exciting round of playoffs.

The final regular season game between Alliston and Stayner on Feb. 19 had a full house of fans in the Alliston arena, as this has been a big rivalry all season.

If these two teams play for the championship this year, it will be one of the best final series seen in years.
