The Junior B Northmen improved their record to 3-1 with a Monday night home game win over the Owen Sound NorthStars at the Alder Street arena.

The Northmen played a shut-out first period in Monday’s game scoring four unanswered goals to start the game.

The second period was a highly charged frame with a total of 14 goals scored from both squads.

The O-ville team notched eight goals – Owen Sound scored six to make it a 12-6 game going into the final period.

Fighting back in an attempt to get back into the game, the NorthStars managed to outscore Orangeville 3-2 in the final period, but that didn’t bring them any closer.

The Northmen left the floor with a 14-9 win.

With Monday’s win, the Northmen are in first place in their division and the only team in the League with three wins, although there’s a long way to go before the real tally shakes out.

The Orangeville squad opened the season with a 16-6 win over London on April 20, then followed up with a 11-7 win over Elora on April 24.

Their only loss came on Saturday night (Apr. 25) when they dropped their Saturday home game 9-5 to the Windsor Clippers.

The Northmen have two games this weeken.

On Sunday, May 3, they travel to Welland to take on the Generals.

They return to the Alder Street arena in Orangeville for their regular Monday night game on May 4, when they will host the Guelph Regals.

Game time is 8:00 p.m.
