The Orangeville Junior A Flyers are looking strong in the early going of the OJHL season with 11 point after seven games.
Burlington is currently leading the division but they have played 11 games already and came on out on the negative side in four of those games.
Flyers had two games over the past week.
On Tuesday, September 22, they travelled to Whitby to take on the Fury in a low scoring game the saw the Orangeville squad shut-out the home town team.
After scoring single from Ethan Wiseman in the first period the teams went into a stalemate in the second period with no scoring from either side.
Returning for the final period the Flyers wrapped it up notching two more to end the game at 3-0.
Flyers goals came from Colin Rigney and Kosta Likourezos.
The squad returned to home ice on
Thursday, September 24, to host the Markham Royals.
The teams played to a 1-1 tie in the first period after O-ville’s Travis Brown scored the opening goal.
That was matched by a Markham goal late in the frame.
The second period was a repeat with Connor Stack notching an early goal a just over a minute into play. That was matched by a Markham goal at the midway mark in the period.
The third period had the Royals leading with a goal at the 15:19 mark but it was a short lived lead when Ryan DaSilva tied it up 1:27 later.
Returning for overtime the teams battled through two periods and couldn’t find a tie breaker.
The game ended 3-3.
The Flyers will take on St. Michaels this Friday, October 2, in Toronto.
They will return to home ice at the Alder Street arena in Orangeville the following night, Saturday, October 3, to host the Georgetown Raiders.
Game time is 7:00 p.m.
