The stock of affordable housing in Orangeville is one of the most important issues to be faced by the new municipal government.
And local realtor Ximena Butko hopes to be part of addressing such priorities from one of the chairs at the town council table should she garner the votes in the Oct. 24 municipal election.
“Housing is a subject that is affecting our ever-growing Orangeville population,” she said. “Housing being attainable, management of the towns taxes, and the well-being of our community are high priorities for me.”
Butko has raised a family in Orangeville for the last two decades.
She’s had roles in real estate and property development throughout those 20 years. And that involvement, she said, has afforded her a unique perspective.
A town’s stock of available housing and the endeavours to secure that directly contributes to business prospects and jobs.
A stable local workforce and sound potential for business development stokes a municipality’s quality of life.
“I have been in real estate for 20 years and would love to bring interest to more affordable housing endeavors, businesses, jobs, and tourism to our community,” Butko said.
She said her career working in real estate has enabled her to hone such attributes as management and communication skills, the ability to make tough decisions, delegate work, and inspire others.
“I believe in serving and providing a voice for my fellow citizens in our community and this position will help me give back on a larger scale,” Butko said.
Residents interested in adding their name to the ballot for this fall’s election have until Aug. 19 to declare their candidacy and file papers at Orangeville Town Hall.
The municipal election is being held Oct. 24.
