The importance of the Ontario agricultural industry, the value of a great weekend trip, and what there is to love about a quaint rural Dufferin county farm tour!
This weekend is the date for an exciting local tour, one that holds large significance both to the local economy, and the stomachs of you and your families.
This Saturday, October 3, is the date for the 2015 “Dufferin Town & Country Farm Tour”. Sponsored by many local businesses, the tour specifically highlights the immense importance of locally sourced food, and general arts and crafts.
According to the tour ‘passport’ which can be obtained by visiting the tour website www.dufferinfarmtour.com, the various farms will be running their individual tours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visitors are also encouraged to dress accordingly to the weather, with the onset of autumn, and with more rainy and damp weather ahead.
“The host farms offer a glimpse of the diversity of agriculture in the area. Our farmers are anxious to share their farming knowledge and the day to day operation and challenges of farming.”. There will also be many animals to see, farm-related activities, commodity displays, and local produce to purchase.
It is the tour organizers’ hope that you will discover a quintessential face to Dufferin county’s economy with this tour. A message to carry away from all this is “Dufferin county matters, local business matters, and local food matters!”.
