Elementary schools basketball tournament underway

Intermediate girls and boys basketball teams from the 15 Dufferin elementary public schools started their annual tournament on March 23.

The league is divided into three divisions – North, East and West – with five schools in each representing each division

Each division will complete a ten game round robin by April 10.

There is a total of 60 games with boys and girls teams combined.

This round robin first round provides the seeding for the two-pool single elimination second round that follows.

The top two teams in each divisionwill be seeded in the A pool with further seeding for A and B Pools based on wins, head to head results, and average Round Robin point differentials.                                                                               The two pools have quarter-finals the week of April 13, semi-finals the week of April 20th and the four final games on Tuesday, May 5, at Westside Secondary School.

The finals get underway at 6:00 p.m.
