The Award of Distinction was created to highlight the creativity, innovation and tal- ent of builders, renovators, designers and marketers within the industry of new home building and renovations in Ontario.
“The building industry continues to be a major driving force in our province’s econ- omy and the Award of Distinction celebrates this dynamic sector,” said OHBA President Vince Molinari.
The Most Outstanding Production Built Home award, for homes that have at least two storeys and up to 2500 square feet of living space, was presented during the OHBA Award Gala held recently at the Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville.
The design that Devonleigh won for, specifically, was their Yorkton II model, located in the Settler’s Ridge community of in Huntsville.
One of Orangeville’s largest homebuilders, Devonleigh has built more than 2,400 homes
since the company was launched in 1996. Their work can be seen in a number of communities between Georgian Bay and Highway 9, including Alliston, Amaranth, Angus, Beeton, Collingwood, Mansfield, Midland, Mono and Orangeville.
While they have grown extensively over the years, Devonleigh’s roots began in Orangeville, which is where the head office is still located.
“It is an honour to have our work recognized by others in the industry,” said Devon- leigh President Andrew Kidd. “The award is the result of a collective effort of all of those involved from inception through to completion. It is one we are very proud of.”
The company is family-owned and operated, and has developed a reputation amidst homebuyers, real estate professionals and contractors as a ‘homebuilder that created residences and neighbourhoods that nurture pride of ownership’.
Some of the attributes that have helped earn the company high praise include the beautiful streetscapes and curb appeal value that they create with their homes, which are often built in already-existing communities and are designed to complement the exist- ing architecture, along with increase value.
Finalists in the OHBA competition were judged from entries across the province, which encompassed 39 categories in areas like building, design, sales and marketing.
The design model which caused Devonleigh’s recognition, the Yorkton II, is described as ‘boasting an efficient floor plan design, a welcoming earth tone exterior, and a creative use of space.’ Each of those features are said to contribute to a warm and inviting home.
“A large part of our job as builders is to ensure a brand new community will remain a place where people are comfortable and happy to live with their families for generations to come,” said Mr. Kidd.
