DCAFS wins 4-year accreditation

Dufferin Child and Family Services (DCAFS) announced Tuesday that they have officially been awarded a four-year accreditation by the Canadian Centre for Accreditation (CCA).

“To be CCA Accredited is truly a seal of approval,” said Jennifer Moore, Executive Director at DCAFS. “Our stakeholders can be assured that we have undergone an extensive internal and external review process that measures our practices against sector and industry standards.”

The accreditation process provides assurance for companies and stakeholders from a respected third-party that the organization meets commonly accepted standards for good governance, management and excellence in service provision. For DCAFS, this will provide a way to demonstrate to their clients, community and funders that they are operating responsibly and providing responsive quality services.

“One of the key benefits of participating in CCA’s accreditation program is that it promotes an ongoing culture of learning and quality improvement throughout the organization,” said Barbara Wiktoroicz, Executive Director at the Canadian Centre for Accreditation. “By choosing to go through the CCA accreditation process, Dufferin Child and Gamily Services is demonstrating its accountability to the community, and its commitment to providing the highest quality of programs and services.”

DCAFS had previously been accredited by Children’s Mental Health Ontario (CMHO). However, in 2012, the CCA was formed, along with four other associations of community service providers, to bring together over 100 years of accreditation experience.

“We embrace the importance of continued accountability to the public, quality improvement and implementation of evidence informed best practices,” added Ms. Moore. “Being CCA-accredited demonstrates our commitment in that regard. Our participation in the accreditation process promotes a culture of learning across the organization.”
