Do you know someone who goes above and beyond to protect, address, or help improve the environment? Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) is seeking nominations for their annual Friends of the Credit Conservation Awards.
The awards, established in 1986, honour local environmental champions to recognize their hard work to protect, connect and sustain the natural environment, and contribute to meaningful environmental work, projects, and initiatives in their community and across the Credit River Watershed.
“Our awards program honours important work being done in the watershed by people who love the environment as much as we do,” said Mike Puddister, Deputy CAO and Director for Watershed Transformation at CVC. “It’s an opportunity to acknowledge the people who share our deep appreciation for the role of nature in keeping our communities healthy and happy.”
Nominees can be schools, landowners, businesses, community groups, and individuals who are inspired to protect nature for future generations to enjoy a thriving, healthy environment.
One nominee will receive an award in each of the following categories: Youth Achievement (individuals and groups under 29); Outstanding Volunteer; Environmental Awareness; Landowner Stewardship; Corporate Leadership; Green Cities; Legacy Donor; and Watershed Excellence.
“Last year we revamped the awards program,” said Jamie Williams, CVC’s marketing and communications specialist, with their updated brand identity. “We really worked on the program to align it with our overall vision of the organization.”
The nomination process is open until November 25. Submissions can be completed online through CVC’s website. The CVC Board of Directors reviews all nominations and makes the final award selection. The awards will be presented at the end of March 2019.
“It’s really open to the community who are doing important work that should be recognized,” noted Ms. Williams.
