Credit Valley Conservation (CVC) would like to clarify a few points published in a letter in the Orangeville Citizen posted on January 6, 2016, entitled Island Lake: a regional park?
CVC is developing a 10-year master plan for Island Lake Conservation Area, not a five-year strategic plan. More information is available at http://goo.gl/Lp5eGJ. The last management plan for the conservation area was developed in 1997 and will expire in 2017. We will be hosting a series of meetings throughout 2016 inviting stakeholders to provide input on the plan. In addition, the public will also be invited to participate and provide input into the plan through public meetings throughout 2016 and 2017.
The Vicki Barron Lakeside Trail at Island Lake Conservation Area is largely accessible, but there are sections that are not fully accessible. This is an important point to clarify as it can impact visitors with accessibility needs.
