Local boxer Aurey Cox left the ring at the Hershey Centre in Mississauga with his second professional win behind him after being awarded the fight on a unanimous decision.
The scheduled four round bout against London’s Steve Rainford went the distance with Cox winning all four rounds on points.
The win brings Cox’ professional record to 2-0.
It was the first time back in the limelight for the super-welterweight after a long hiatus following his first pro fight in February of 2014.
Cox said he was unsure of continuing with a pro career after his first fight over a year and a-half ago.
He made a decision to give it another go after seeing other boxers advance their careers.
Cox started training and ramped it up in the weeks leading up to the fight with Rainford.
Cox’ coach Bryon Mackie mad the prediction that Cox would come out on top by wearing Rainford out.
He was right on that with Cox taking every round.
Cox can now take some time off to recuperate from this fight before making a decision to see where his career will go.
