Orangeville council has agreed to swap some of the land once destined to house an Humber College campus, for 42.41 acres and a municipal “Pullen Well” across Veterans Way in Amaranth, for future water supply.
Discussed in a closed session before the regular council meeting on Monday a motion approving the swap was put forth by Councillor Scott Wilson, seconded by Councillor Sylvia Bradley, and unanimously approved by council.
Town staff has been directed to execute a land agreement with LaurelPark Investments Inc. and Hamount Investments Ltd., as they plan to develop a residential subdivision on part of the Humber site.
Although the developer will receive a portion of the Humber lands, it has yet to be determined how much the portion will be.
Council also directed town staff to proceed with the work required to commission the well, while the associated expenses will be funded from the town’s development charges reserve. Staff will then report back to council when further negotiations are finalized and documents signed.
