The Greater Dufferin Area Chamber of Commerce, with the support of Dufferin. biz and Headwaters Tourism, will continue a tradition of hosting federal election debates with the candidates running for office in Dufferin-Caledon riding.

All candidates who have currently declared they are running in the riding have been invited including those running for the Liberal, NDP, Conservative and Green parties.

The debates will provide voters a chance to ask the candidates direct questions about the issues that matter most to them and will also give the candidates an opportunity to speak directly to voters and present their platforms.

The debates will take place Wednesday, September 30, at Orangeville District Sec- ondary School, and Tuesday, October 6, at Grace Tipling Hall, Shelburne. Both ses- sions will run from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Each candidate will be allocated a table to display their materials outside of the main hall. From 6:30 to 7 p.m., candidates can speak informally in a meet-and-greet atmosphere with attendees. At 7 p.m., this component will end and no campaign materials will be allowed into the main hall including, but not limited to signs, buttons, placards or branded shirts.

Each candidate will be introduced with a short biography. These bios will also be placed on the Chamber’s website at www. gdacc.ca.

Each candidate will then have up to five minutes to outline their platforms. The hosting organization(s) will then pose one question to the candidates.

During the public question period (maximum 60 minutes) each candidate addressed will have two minutes to respond, and then the other candidates will be given an opportunity to respond to the same question.

Each candidate will be given a maximum of three minutes for closing remarks to summarize their position and platform.
