After a heartbreaking three point loss against the Niagara River Lions on February 6, the Orangeville A’s were looking for the chance to rebound from their defensive miscues that cost them the victory late in the 4th quarter.
The took to the road on Thursday, February 11, to face their Central division rivals – the Windsor Express the fifth time this season.
The season series currently sits even at 2-2.
Orangeville began the game hoping to tap the defensive potential of their roster.
The first quarter began with a Windsor surge which saw the A’s fall behind early by 12 points.
However, Orangeville guard Lewis Jackson had himself an impressive first quarter on the road, mixing a balance of interior scoring and fluid jump shots.
Jackson provided eight points during the quarter and finished with a total of 18 on the game. The first quarter ended with an 11 point lead for the Express, 28-17.
With the 2nd quarter beginning, Orangeville was able to collect themselves on offence and showed great effort in getting to the free-throw line. Lewis Jackson performed especially well, hitting 4/4 freethrows during the quarter. Orangeville managed to outscore Windsor 31-21 during the 2nd quarter, and took their first lead of the game (48-47) with 0:44 remaining.
The final score of the 1st half was 49-48 for the Express.
Once the second half commenced, Orangeville continued to push the offensive tempo however, Windsor capitalized on the A’s poor outside shooting and foul trouble.
Despite bringing the game to only five points int he final minute, Orangeville was not able to find a way to overcome the Express and had to settle for a 99-95 loss.
