The Headwaters Health Care Foundation’s annual hospital gala was once again a huge success, raising $223,752.
The May 2 gala, which was themed the ‘Mystic Masquerade’, was the 18th annual dinner and auction in support of the hospital, and was held this year at Hockley Valley Resort.
The evening, with Mark DuBois, the renowned Canadian tenor, acting as host, was completely sold out, and featured a gourmet cocktail reception and dinner, live music, a vintage wine raffle, as well as live and silent auctions. The auction featured a 2003 Jaguar donated by Doc Gillies, well-known Orangeville resident and community booster.
“We wanted to build on the success of last year’s event, but at the same time offer something different that would excite our past and loyal attendees as well as attract new supporters. We were thrilled that our guests embraced the Masquerade theme.” said Jenn Conroy, chair of the event. “We have had wonderful feedback and so we look forward to creating another unique experience for our guests next year!”
The event is largely volunteer-driven, and is organized by the committee, usually a full year in advance. Planning is already underway for next year’s event, which will be held on Saturday, May 7.
On Monday, the Annual Dinner and Auction Committee presented the Headwaters Health Care Foundation with a cheque for the net proceeds of $223,752 for the Foundation’s $16-million Commitment to Care Campaign.
On Tuesday, the Palgrave Orange Lodge #288 members also made a donation to the hospital, in honour of the hard-working staff, physicians and volunteers at the Headwaters Health Care Centre.
The $5000 cheque presentation to Foundation board member Stephen Doney, will also go towards the Commitment to Care campaign.
The donation was spurred by several members of the Orange Lodge who have been patients over the years at Headwaters, and wanted the opportunity to give back as a thank-you.
“We are proud to be able to support your campaign,” said Norval Patterson, Treasurer for the Orange Lodge #288. “We never know when we’re going to need your hospital.”
The Commitment to Care Campaign is the main fundraising campaign to help the hospital achieve its goal of ensuring that patients can continue to have diagnosis and treatment take place close to home.
