21st Annual Grand Valley Lions Duck Race Winners

The 21st Annual Grand Valley Lions Duck Race Day was very hot and a large crowd watched our MPP Sylvia Jones, Warden Laura Ryan and Mayor Steve Soloman officially drop the 2700 ducks into the Grand River. Once again, Grand Valley Crane Rentals had the ducks in the Lions cage out over the river for the official drop. The ducks took their time coming down the river and the large crowd came down to Hereward Park to see the finish and hear who won prizes.

In Hereward Park, the Dufferin County Milk producers provided milk to the children and Boston Pizza provided cookies. R J Burnsides provided prizes for the children at the Grand Valley Lions Duck pond while Hyde-Whipp Heating & Air Conditioning sponsored the bouncy castle.  Food was provided by Grand Valley Minor Soccer, Minor Hockey, the Skatepark committee and Grand Valley Food Lands. Pony rides were provided by Grand River Rodeo. Grand Valley Dental sponsored the face painting by Turquoise Tiger and Ontario Early Years had a children’s play area in the shade. Clorox Company sponsored the ever popular Duck hats.

Jim Irvine was our MC and entertainment was provided by Cody and Larry Culshaw of Grand Valley, Kara Shaw of Fergus and Amanda Phillips gave a Zumba demonstration.
