Ice Crushers staff facing several drug charges

Three executive members of the Orangeville Ice Crushers hockey club have been charged with offences after Dufferin Ontario Provincial Police discovered over $65,000 of marijuana including plant and processed material at a residence in Amaranth.

They also located equipment used for production.

On Tuesday, Dufferin OPP attended a resident on the 8th Line of Amaranth to assist Dufferin County Sheriff’s officers in enforcing a court-ordered eviction.

After further investigation, they arrested and charged three people who reside at the location, all executive members of the Orangeville Ice Crushers Junior A hockey club.

Charged are Ryan Zeng, 29, of Orangeville,  Coleman Schneider,31,  of West Berlin, New Jersey, and Rada Culciar, 27, of Reading, Pennsylvania.

Mr. Schneider is the Ice Crushers general manager and head coach.

Mr. Zeng is the team’s goalie coach, while Ms. Culciar is the team’s public relations director.

Mr. Zeng has been released from custody and will appear in court at a later date.

Mr. Schneider and Ms. Culciar were scheduled to appear for a bail hearing in Orangeville on Wednesday.

The Greater Metro Hockey League, of which the Ice Crushers are a member team, posted the following statement:

“In light of current problems involving two owner-staff members of the Orangeville Ice Crushers, GMHL president and GMHL commissioners have directed these staff members to step away from team activities until further notice. Effective immediately, Ice Crushers shareholder Jeff Oliver will take over the operation of the team as general manager and head coach.”
