Habitat for Humanity Wellington Dufferin Guelph launch a five-year campaign to raise $2 million and build at least 25 more homes in the communities they service with a benefit concert headlined by the musical duo of Ash & Bloom.

The launch event will be held Friday evening at the Bullring Café at the University of Guelph.

“This is the largest Campaign our affiliate has ever seen and we are thrilled to double our capacity giving a hand up to even more needy families in our community,” said Sharron Riley-Persson, Director of Marketing, Communications and Resource Development.

“Ash & Bloom is an up-an-coming musical duo performing worldwide with their signature sound reminiscent of Simon & Garfunkel and we are so pleased that they have reached out to help us launch this exciting Campaign effort.”

The event has been described by the organization as an evening to remember, featuring government dignitaries, corporate partners, volunteers, staff and members of the community enjoying live performances and more.

“It is all thanks to the kindness, generosity, and support of our incredible donors and volunteers that we have had the ability to bring affordable homeownership to 23 families living in core housing need since 2000,” said Steve Howard, Habitat’s Executive Director. “Twenty-three families whose lives have changed dramatically and whose children have had opportunities they could have never imagined when the keys to their new home unlocked a brighter future.”

One of the event’s featured guests will be Canadian Soccer Hall of Famer, Helen Stoumbos, who has accepted the opportunity to serve as Habitat for Humanity’s Campaign Ambassador.

“I want to reach out to our community and encourage every one of you to make a difference in the lives of families who can become affordable homeowners,” said Ms. Stoumbos. “Please join me in our goal to raise $2 million in the next five years by becoming a multi-year partner.”

The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 each and available online at habitatwdg.ca, or by contacting Heather Hamilton, Development & Stewardship specialist via phone at 519-767-9752 x 28 or email at heather@habitatwdg.ca.
