The Orangeville Public Library has developed a new literary program designed to bring the community together over a shared love and appreciation for the written and spoken word.

Kicking off next Monday (Jan. 14), a new three-part Storytelling Series will see local authors share their tales with the local community. Dufferin County’s inaugural poet laureate Harry Posner, Marilyn Kleiber and Winston Uytenbogaart have been confirmed for appearances in January, February and March.

Launched under the Words the Orangeville Way moniker, the new Storytelling Series is offered in partnership with Community Living Dufferin. The series kicks off next week at the Mill Street Library with Mr. Posner taking centre stage.

“Harry is known not only for his eloquent words, but also for the lively way he delivers his poetry. Join the fun at 1 p.m. around the fireplace as Harry shares some of his favourite poems and the stories that inspired him,” says Orangeville Library CEO Darla Fraser.

The Storytelling Series will continue on the second Monday of the month at 1 p.m. The program features a different local author or storyteller each month, with Ms. Kleiber confirmed for Feb. 11 and Mr. Uytenbogaart for March 11.

“The library is delighted to have the opportunity to work with Community Living Dufferin to create a unique new program to engage everyone in our community,” Ms. Fraser added.
